Announcements for the Week of May 28, 2017
The Elder Board has approved a Sabbatical for Pastor Houtz for the months of June and July. This leave of absence was granted in accordance with the CBC Personnel Benefits Manual for a pastor with 28 years of service. During this time period there will be various men preaching during Pastor Houtz’s absence. During this time, Pastor Henderson will be the contact person for the day-to-day operations and two of our elders, Phil Schwartz and Bud Curry, will be available for other needs that may arise. Please pray that Pastor Houtz will be able to decompress, recharge, and be refreshed during this time away.
Summer ABF Series: During the summer months (June 4 through August 27), we will be offering a video sermon series entitled, True Spirituality, by Chip Ingram during the ABF hour. Participants will meet in the Worship Center at 10:00am. There will be sermon notes from the series available in the foyer. All are welcome.
Calvary Seniors will meet on Thursday, June 1 at 10:30am for a devotional by Pastor Jonathan God. Lunch will be salad, sandwiches and dessert. Please sign up at the front foyer bulletin board.
Vacation Bible School: This year’s VBS will take place from June 19-23, from 6:00-8:30pm. The theme this year is Group’s Maker Fun Factory. VBS is our biggest outreach to children and families and it takes many volunteers to run the program. There are several different positions to be filled, so there is something for everyone. If you would like to help, please visit our table to sign up. Thank you!
Baby Bottle Boomerang 2017: Celebrate Life! By filling a bottle from Mother’s Day through Father’s Day, you are helping us celebrate the lives that have been touched and saved through the ministry of Crossroads Pregnancy Center. Money raised during the “boomerang” will support the life changing work of meeting the physical and spiritual needs of women and men who find themselves facing an unplanned pregnancy. It also helps us spread the abstinence message to young people preparing them to avoid negative consequences. Please pick up a baby bottle in the front foyer TODAY and return it on Father’s Day. Thank you!
The OPEN HANDS MINISTRY (whose goal is to be the hands and feet of Jesus in the community) is sponsoring a gas card shower for a family in our area. This family of 6 includes 3 out of 4 children with cancer. The mom travels to Philadelphia 2-3 times per week to take them for treatments. Between these trips she also takes them to Danville for doctor visits. As you can see, the miles add up quickly and the cost even more so. The gas cards can be of any amount you choose and can be put in the offering plates each Sunday, the drop box by the office door, or delivered to the church office. (This will be the last week to participate.) Thank you for your generosity and your constant willingness to reach out and be the hands and feet of Jesus. May God bless you richly.
Please Help the Mexico Team Distribute Bibles This Summer! Do you want to be a part of spreading the Good News in Mexico this summer? Please consider partnering with our team! The Mexico Team would like to see Bibles in the hands of as many families as we can this summer. We will be handing out Bibles to parents at VBS, in the villages that we visit, and on the streets where we serve. We are asking you to purchase and donate a Bible. The cost is $10.00 per Bible. We will be in the front foyer each Sunday after the 8:30 service and after the 11:00 service. Please stop by and donate a Bible to a family in Mexico! Any questions, please see Pastor Dayv or Michelle Echard.
Actors / Actresses: We are looking for several people who would be interested in joining a small group to minister through skits. Please talk with or call Sean McNeil at 250-0907.
